4. Cookies and consent (TDDDG)

Our website uses cookies. Cookies are text files that are placed and stored on a computer system via an internet browser. Where consent pursuant to § 25 TDDDG is required for setting cookies, we expressly obtain it before cookies are set (e.g. via a cookie banner). Technically necessary cookies that are strictly required for the operation of the website are set without separate consent, as they are permissible on the basis of our legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

The data subject can prevent our website from setting cookies at any time by adjusting the settings of the internet browser used, and thus permanently object to the setting of cookies. Cookies that have already been set can be deleted at any time via the browser or other software programs.

5. Collection of general data (server log files)

Each time the website is accessed, it collects a series of general data and information, which is stored in the server’s log files. The following may be recorded: browser types and versions used, the operating system, the referrer URL, date and time of access, the IP address and the internet service provider. This data is used exclusively to ensure technical functionality and to defend against cyber attacks, and is not used to identify individual persons. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

5a. Hosting – STRATO AG

Our website is hosted by: STRATO AG, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany (www.strato.de). STRATO is a processor within the meaning of Art. 28 GDPR. We have concluded a data processing agreement (DPA) with STRATO that restricts the processing of personal data to our instructions and exclusively to the purposes stated therein. 6. Contact form and email contact

If you contact us by email or via our contact form, the personal data you provide will be stored in order to process your enquiry. This data will not be passed on to third parties without your consent. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries).

6a. Use of artificial intelligence (AI)

To process customer enquiries and to create and edit customer-related texts, we use AI-based language models from Anthropic PBC, San Francisco, USA (product “Claude”) in a supporting role. The data you provide (e.g. the content of your enquiry, contact details) may be processed by the AI system in order to process your enquiry or to formulate a reply. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR (pre-contractual measures or legitimate interest in processing enquiries efficiently).

The AI is used exclusively to support our staff; a human always decides on the final reply. No fully automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place.

As Anthropic is based in the USA, personal data may be transferred to a third country. This takes place on the basis of appropriate safeguards, in particular the standard contractual clauses approved by the EU Commission. 6b. Online shop (Ecwid by Lightspeed)

For our online shop (“Accessories Shop”) we use the shop software Ecwid by Lightspeed (Ecwid, Inc., a Lightspeed Commerce Inc. company), which is provided to us via the e-commerce plug-in of our hosting provider STRATO AG. When you place an order in our shop, we process the data required for this (e.g. name, billing and delivery address, email address, telephone number, items ordered, chosen shipping and payment method) in order to process your order, issue invoices and communicate with you. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (retention obligations under commercial and tax law).

Ecwid processes this data on our behalf as a processor within the meaning of Art. 28 GDPR. When the shop is accessed, content is loaded from Ecwid servers, which transmits your IP address. To operate the shopping cart, the shop uses technically necessary cookies or local storage (§ 25(2) TDDDG). A transfer of data to third countries (in particular the USA and Canada) cannot be ruled out; it takes place on the basis of an adequacy decision of the EU Commission or the EU standard contractual clauses. 6c. Payment processing (Stripe, bank transfer)

For payment by credit or debit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, we use the payment service provider Stripe Payments Europe, Limited, 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, D02 H210, Ireland (“Stripe”). If you choose one of these payment methods, the data required for payment (e.g. name, email address, billing address, card details, order amount, as well as IP address and device information for fraud prevention) is transmitted directly to Stripe. Your full card details are processed exclusively by Stripe; we do not receive them. Stripe is an independent controller for payment processing. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in fraud prevention). Stripe may also transfer data to affiliated companies in the USA; this takes place on the basis of the EU standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. If you pay in advance by bank transfer, we process the details of your transfer (name, IBAN, amount, payment reference) in order to match your payment to your order.

7a. Contact via WhatsApp

On our website we offer you the option of contacting us directly via a WhatsApp button (e.g. for appointment requests for our on-site service). This is a simple link without any third-party services being loaded automatically when you access our website. Only when you actively click the WhatsApp button does the WhatsApp application installed on your device or WhatsApp Web open, with a pre-filled chat to our business number.

The operator of WhatsApp for users in the EU is WhatsApp Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (part of Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.). If you contact us via WhatsApp, we process the data you provide (e.g. mobile number, name, message content and any files or forms you send) in order to process your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries). Using the WhatsApp button is voluntary. Alternatively, you can still reach us by telephone, email or via our contact form.

7. Data protection – Facebook / Meta

Links to our Facebook presence are integrated on our website. The operator for users in the EU is Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland. When you access pages with integrated Facebook components, data may be transmitted to Meta if you are logged in to Facebook at the same time. 9. Data protection – YouTube

Components of YouTube (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) are integrated on our website. We use YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode. 10. Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google Analytics uses cookies that enable an analysis of the use of the website. We only use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation activated. The legal basis is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you can give via our cookie banner. 11. Retention period and deletion

Personal data is only stored for as long as is necessary to achieve the purpose of storage or as required by statutory retention periods (e.g. retention obligations under commercial and tax law of up to 10 years). After the respective period has expired, the data is routinely deleted.

12. Rights of the data subject

You have the following rights vis-à-vis us with regard to your personal data:

  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR): You have the right to obtain information free of charge at any time about the data stored about you.
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): You have the right to demand the immediate rectification of inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): You have the right to demand the erasure of your personal data, provided the statutory requirements are met.
  • Right to restriction (Art. 18 GDPR): You have the right to demand the restriction of the processing of your data.
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR): You have the right to receive your data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
  • Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time.

13. Data protection in the application process

We collect and process the personal data of applicants for the purpose of handling the application process. If no employment contract is concluded, the application documents are automatically deleted two months after notification of the rejection decision, unless other legitimate interests stand in the way.

14. Legal bases for processing

  • Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR – consent (e.g. for analytics cookies)
  • Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – performance of a contract and pre-contractual measures
  • Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR – compliance with legal obligations (e.g. tax law)
  • Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interests (e.g. IT security, operation of the website)

15. Automated decision-making

As a responsible company, we do not use automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.

16. Use of freelance field staff (on-site saddle fitting)

To carry out on-site saddle fittings and advisory visits, we use self-employed saddle specialists (freelancers) as processors within the meaning of Art. 28 GDPR. In the course of field service assignments, the following personal data of customers is processed:

  • Name and address (client and stable address)
  • Contact details (telephone, email)
  • Rider’s physical measurements (height, weight)
  • Information about the horse (name, breed, age, height at withers, sex)
  • Health-related information about the rider, where medically necessary for the saddle fitting (special category pursuant to Art. 9 GDPR – only with explicit consent)

Legal bases: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) and Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR (explicit consent for health data). A data processing agreement (DPA) pursuant to Art. 28(3) GDPR has been concluded with each freelance field staff member.

Note on health data: Information about the rider’s physical or health limitations is particularly sensitive data under Art. 9 GDPR. It is collected exclusively on a voluntary basis and only with your explicit, separate consent.
